With the continuously mature development of the technologies on computer simulation,computer display,artificial intelligence virtual reality,and network parallel processing,virtual simulation technology which has the convenient,vivid,interactive,economic and reusable properties,has been gradually adopted in the fields of the industrial development,scientific research and education training.Also,it is furtherly involved in other fields of virtual manufacturing,virtual driving,virtual medical and virtual assembly research.Particularly,based on the principles of focusing on the entity combined with virtuality,the engineered virtual simulation teaching system with strong interactivity is applied in the virtual simulation teaching activities so as to improve the students’ practical ability and knowledge integration ability.Taking Unity 3D as a platform,this paper mainly studies the theoretical and practical development related to the virtual assembly of automobile engines.The study conforms to the teaching demands of the automobile engine mechanical structure theory and its assembly training and it also combines a lot theories related to 3D modeling technology,3D interactive design theory,program design theory,virtual simulation technology,automobile engine assembly theory and other related knowledge.First of all,according to the teaching content,this paper introduces the basic theories of engine mechanical structure and assembly technology.Based on the Audi V6 automobile engine as the prototype,the overall planning idea of virtual simulation system,the theory mainly includes the theory of knowledge module,virtual assembly training module two modules,select Unity 3D software platform for the system software of man-machine interface design.The three-dimensional model of the automobile engine components is established with using the SolidWorks software.We should make use of the3 DSMAX software to modify and render the three-dimensional model to which othermaterials are added.Consequently,we can generate a Unity 3D file format supported by FBX.Secondly,the 3D model of the engine is disassembled and assembled,and the real engine assembly video is collected to be modified and integrated into the system through the C# script code.Supported by the key technologies of dragging the object with mouse,judging its position in,Unity 3D,Boolean algorithm,with the help of the powerful physics engine and the high quality particle system,the virtual assembly simulation of the typical engine parts is operated and the interactive disassembly function is completed.Finally,the virtual simulation system modules are tested and optimized to meet the design requirements,and to have the Windows platform released.This system contains various modes of operation through which,the structure,function and assembly technology of the automotive engine parts can be learned.In addition,during the process of experiencing the automotive engine parts interactive disassembly a more visual and vivid teaching model is presented and it makes the operators grasp the engine structure and assembly skills more firmly,achieving the aims of practical training and learning.
