This paper puts forward the steel frame panel structure“New Viscoelastic Lateral Resisiting System”,which is composed of the external steel frame,the viscoelastic damper and the corrugated steel plate.The traditional seismic design method and energy dissipation technology are applied simultaneously in this structure.Additional stiffness and damping can be provided by setting viscoelastic dampers to reduce the vibration response and improve the seismic performance of structures.The vibration response of the structure is reduced by viscoelastic dampers under the elastic interlayer displacement.When the lateral displacement exceeds the limit,the corrugated steel plate is subjected to horizontal load.The outstanding lateral resisiting system which is simply designed,easy installation and low cost has a broad application prospect.Based on domestic and overseas research results of viscoelastic damper,a new viscoelastic damper with a displacement limit mechanism is proposed through a detailed analysis about mechanical properties of viscoelastic damping material and viscoelastic damper.And a design method of this new system is put forward integrally.This could be the reference of the latter research.Based on an office building,a single frame 6-floor new system is designed and choose the bottom two floors as the analysis model.According to the function of the components,the pipeline of lateral load of the new system is put forward as: Horizontal lateral force is evenly distributed to every viscoelastic damper through beam,then the viscoelastic damper can absorb energy though its shearing deformation;When the lateral displacement exceeds the specified limit,the displacement limit mechanism works,the lateral force is transmitted to the corrugated steel plate through viscoelastic damper,then transferred to the steel frame by splice bars;The frame then transfers the load down to the basement by itself deformation.According to the design method and calculation results presented in this paper,the nonlinear finite element models which contain new viscoelastic resisting system,corrugated steel plate and traditional steel plate shear wall are established by ABAQUS.Comparative analysis of three kinds of structures under monotonic load and cyclic load is conducted.The result shows:1.The design scheme proposed in this paper is reasonable,the new viscoelastic lateral resisting system has good seismic performance.2.It is found that the new viscoelastic lateral resisting system has the minimum lateral displacement under the same horizontal loads.It shows good lateral resistance.3.Within the range of elastic displacement(14mm),the viscoelastic lateral resisting system has a betterhysteretic behavior.Its good seismic resistance derives from the viscoelastic damper.It is viscoelastic dampers to make a great contribution to reduce the lateral displacement,improve the stability of the structure and delay the buckling deformation of the embedded steel plate.A new type of viscoelastic lateral resisting system is the first combination of viscoelastic damper and corrugated steel shear wall.It not only widens the application of the viscoelastic damper,but also improves the existing lateral force resisting system.It is a practical attempt.
