In recent years,China's aerospace industry has developed rapidly,more astronauts will work in space.Drugs,blood and other things are in great demand,which need to keep at low temperature.In addition,the precision equipment need accurate temperature control in the new satellite,for instance,quantum communication satellite.Hence,the temperature control box(TCB)will become an essential part in space activities.The traditional TCB has many shortcomings,such as large volume,complex structure,vibration and noise,so it is not suitable for use in space.A new type of TCB must to be developed urgently.The thermoelectric cooler(TEC)has become the best choice for the micro TCB,because it has many advantages,such as small volume,rapid response and high reliability.However,the performance of TCB is affected by various factors.In this paper,we use finite element analysis to analyze these factors and optimize the TCB,in order to meet the high standard requirements in space.The main investigated contents are as follows:(a)By analyzing the steady-state model of the TCB,the influence of many factors on the TCB's performance is studied,such as the shape,thermal insulation material,the TEC.And the optimized scheme follows: the size is 100mm×100mm×100mm,the thickness of the inner and outer aluminum plate is 1mm,the insulation layer is 8mm,and the TEC embedded in the insulation layer is CP1.4-49-31-06 L.(b)By using mathematical modeling,the dynamic model of the TCB with PID control algorithm is built and analyzed.The optimal control parameters are confirmed: maxI(28)4A,10A/KpK(28),0.0001A/KsiK(28),1As/KdK(28).Furthermore,COMSOL with PDEs is used to do the transient analysis and verify the design scheme,which shows that the TCB meets design requirements.Based on the study above,TEC is used to design the temperature control system of the 1U cubic satellite.By finite element modeling and simulation,the temperature distribution under the high and the low temperature condition is analyzed.The result shows that the temperature control system works well,and its average power is very small.In this paper,the finite element analysis is used to analyze and optimize the TCB based on TECs,which can guide the development of TCB in space.And the temperature control system with TECs can improve the active thermal control ability of the satellite,which has a positive significance to the development of China's space industry.
