Ballast draft is an important parameter in ship and ocean engineering,But in port engineering, there is no perfect calculation method.Ship full draft reference value and part of the ship operating draft value are given in the current ship data and the relevant norms. While the value of ship ballast draft is not clear.Ballast draft is a very important parameter in the cross-sea bridge height design, ship mooring force calculation under ballast condition as well as envelope design work of boarding ladder. Therefore,it is necessary to study and discuss on the estimation method of ship ballast draft.Taking into account the extensive application of AIS in the maritime field,In this paper, the data is collected by ship-based AIS,shipping company and pilot. The ship type information is provided by Lloyd's Register.Data for ballast and operating draft of a variety of ship types including general cargo ships, bulk carriers, oil tankers, chemical tankers, liquefied gas ships, container ships, passenger ro-ro ships and cruise ships are collected. The data of draft is analyzed by SPSS software, and the value of ballast draft is obtained under different accumulative frequencies of different tonnage. The MATLAB software is used to fit the ballast and operating draft curve of each ship under the 50%guarantee rate. The statistic results are compared with those of several mainstream calculate methods at home and abroad, and the statistic results are analyzed by combining the characteristics of each ship type. The ballast draft data collected in this paper is a true reflection of the ballast draft in the production and operation of the ship.Through the statistic analysis of ship ballast draft,it provides a new solution to solve the problem of ship ballast draft, and has strong practical value in port engineering design. It can also provide some reference for the revision of the relevant norms and standards.
