A Study On The Urban Spatial Development Of Hefei At The End Of Feudal Society(Wan-Li Of Ming Dynasty-1949)

From the primitive human gathering of small village to the county-level city of feudal society,from the battleground military town to capital city after the founding of China.“Qin unify the six countries and set up Jiujiang County,then making Hefei under the jurisdiction of Luzhou government.”Starting from the Qin and Han Dynasties,as we can see,the history of the founding of Hefei has more than 2000 years.Compared to other cities in China of the same period,Hefei has its distinctive features.According to the book named Du Shi Fang Yu Ji Yao,Hefei is been located between Yangtze River and Huaihe,Huainan hills are its natural barriers,Hefei has important strategic traffic position since ancient times.Even in modern times,,the explosive development of Hefei still has its unique characteristics.From 1949 to 2009,Hefei’s per capita land use area remained unchanged during these 60 years,about 100 m 2 / person.For more than two thousand years,the evolution of its character and function has had a profound influence on its development.Although the transformation of urban space in Anhui Province is not as great as that in Nanjing and Beijing,but this paper tried to find out the clues of urban transformation from ancient times to modern times of Hefei.The book "Urban study at Late Feudal Society in China:William Skinner’s Model" tell us that urban studies on Chinese feudal society has not been studied on the history of urban development of county-level city so far.Therefore,we selected the ancient city of Hefei at late feudal society as the research object,such as Wan-Li of Ming dynasty,Kan-Xi of Qing dynasty,1803,1918,1945,1949(semi-colonial and semi-feudal).Through the interpretation of the different historical status map and the translation of the city’s historical status map,combined with modern research methods——Spatial Syntax,to deeply analyze urban space morphology evolution of Hefei.Simultaneously,the study also includes some socio-economic and historical data analysis.This article fills up the blank of the study on the history of urban development of county-level in the Late Stage of Feudal Society in China.The research will enrich the urban space morphology evolution history of Hefei,and reflects the evolution of the ancient Chinese county-level cities.The research also provide reasonable spatial structure and development strategies for today’s urban construction,and guide the heritage and revival of the old city,the development and construction of new town.In this paper,it will take urban space of the ancient city of Hefei for the study.Based on the traditional method of image analysis and integration of space syntax to qualitative and quantitative analysis and comparative studies on urban spatial morphology of different years,revealing the mechanism of Urban Form Evolution in Hefei.Meanwhile,integrated the functional space of urban characteristics with economic functions,political functions,traffic functions and nuclear transformation to imply center changes of the urban space,So as to provide the inner explainntion of mechanism of urban space of the morphology evolution.
