In today's society with increasingly frequent flow of information, communication is an important demand for each one.The communication needs of the deaf-mute also need to be met.The ability to be as easy to freely contact with outside world for information exchange as normal people, is what every hearing speech impaired desire.Beginning with the research background, this paper expatiates on the social background and the theoretical background of the design of sign language translator to confirm this research has certain value. With literature analysis method, this paper studies the research trend of sign language translation equipment, research status and the present situation of technology, summarizes and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of existing research method.According to the theory of product sign system, this paper puts forward the pragmatic, semantic, and syntactic relations of sign interpretation, functional meaning and product characterization in the product sign system of sign language translator, and introduces semantic theory into the design of sign language translator. According to the model of product symbol communication, this paper expounds the relationship between the deaf-mute, sign language translator and elements in using environment from the angle of macroscopic information exchange. The paper focuses on the relationship between human-to-human elements in sign language translator symbol system, and then analyzes the cognitive model, the cognitive reaction, the behavioral response and the emotion of the users of the sign language translator, and analyzes the cognitive and emotional communication between the listener and the deaf-mute.The analysis in response is used to illustrate the impact of user awareness on the design of the coding process. This paper analyzes the product background, symbolic meaning evolution, symbolic structure and sign semantic classification of sign language translator. The product construction method is applied to the design practice. On the pragmatic level, this thesis makes a thorough understanding of the user's communication needs and problems, summarizes the user experience level and product characteristics of the sign language translator, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the existing sign language translation products, and then designs the sign language translator position. On the semantic level, this paper extracts semantics from user behavior, user cognition and product environment. Based on image preferences of the deaf-mute, this paper makes a semantic transformation of target image and product representation by using Metaphor's method, and then determines the language translator product's appearance. At the aspect of syntactic level, this paper expounds the relevant technical means to realize the design of sign language translator. In the end, we design a sign language translator that can restore the natural acoustics, and help the deaf-mute to realize the information and emotion transmission between the listeners. Finally, this paper summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of the design study, and puts forward personal opinions on the future direction of the development of sign language translation related products.
