The load-bearing components of Aviation equipment, such as air frame, beams, joints,landing gear and turbine blades, are important parts of the aircraft and directly related to the aircraft's reliability, service life and cost. In order to guarantee the performance and quality of these components, generally, integral forming was used. Therefore, the process design and manufacturing technology of large integral forging has become one of the important symbols to measure the strength of a country's aviation industry.With the development of computer and information technology, CAD/CAE/CAM technology is an effective way to improve the level of the design and manufacture of die forging process. Based on this, in this paper, according to the characteristics of key die forgings of large aircraft, forging process design method and system of large die forgings had been studied. And the key technologies of draft and fillet radius of large forgings design were also researched.Firstly, through the analysis of the structure characteristics of large forgings and large forgings forging process, the framework of CAD system of die forging process was built.Through analyze the demand of the system, the two modules of the design forging system have been discussed in detail.Secondly, according to the characteristics of multi-ribs and thin-webs forgings, the face of the forging were judged and grouped. The surfaces of forgings were divided into positive face, negative face and outer draft face. And the automatic recognition of the inner draft face and the corresponding neutral surface, is aiming to instead of manually selecting each draft surface and neutral surface.Then, the edges of the forging were also judged and grouped. The edges of the forgings were divided into inner corners and outer corners sharp edges automatically. In order to realize classification the sharp edges at the vertex and determine the filletoperation order, the edges which need to add fillet radius had been distinguished.Finally, on the basis of the above research, the die forging process CAD system is developed by using CAA CATIA platform. The rapid-draft and the rapid-fillet operation for multi-ribs and thin-webs forgings has been achieved. The results show that it has improved the design efficiency and accuracy of forgings.
