Studies On Flower Border Construct And Practical Methods In South China

Flower border is that people learn from the form of growing state of wild flowers, and form a landscape by artistic design, it with merits of varied plants, wide range of application, lower cost of maintenance and prominent landscape features. Design and construction of flower border began to be widely used in China, become an important form of improvinghighlights landscape characteristics. The research on selection of flower border plants and practical cases can provide a theoretical basis for border design in future, the form of flower borders is consistent with the concept of the current ecological garden and economical garden. By the investigation of 10 parkgreenland and29attached green space such as residential areas and hotels, 111 flower borders,the plant species, the construction forms and the application effect of flower border in south China were analyzed and evaluated. With the help of company platform, theory and design methods of flower border were practiced, common patterns of flower border design were summarized, and a group of the regional feature of border plants was selected. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) By investigation of flower borders in south China, the results showed that there were 246 species used in the flower borders, of which small trees were 23 species, shrubs were 127 species, annuals were 55 species, Ornamental grasses 9 species, hydrophyte 9 species,perennials were 23 species, and common species especially involved in genus of Agavaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Myrtaceae, Liliaceae,Verbenaceae, Gramineae, Oleaceae, Aroideae, Apocynaceae, Acanthaceae. There were more flower and foliage plants in common flower border plants, and warm color plants took a large proportion. The evergreen plants were 186 species, accounted for 75.61%. The native plants were 41 species, accounted for 16.67 %, the proportion of exotic-species and cultivars was significantly higher than the native plants.(2) According to analyzing border plants performance and effect in the practical case, 30 species of new optimal flowers were selected, included 4 species of small trees, 18 species of shrubs,6 species perennial, 2 species ornamental grasses, distinctive and regional plant landscape would be created.(3) By investigation and research of flower borders in south China, the results showed that the utilization rate of flower border was highest in parks and residential areas constructed recently. The form was mixed border, and flower borders mainly were consisted of shrubs and perennial plants. The proportion of annuals flower was higher than that of flowering shrub in parks, on the contrary, the proportion of flowering shrub was higher in residential areas. The main forms of flower border were island border, woodland border, stone border, roadside border and fance border and so on.(4) Flower border designing methods were summarized. Through inspection and analysis of the literature, combined with research of domestic and foreign flower border cases, the paper summarized flower border designing methods from six aspects: site selection, plan design, vertical design, seasonal design, color design, and the distance of plant design and so on. With the design concept and method, two cases of flower border in Guangzhong were designed and constructed, achieved good effects and evaluation on landscape.(5) Combining design theory of flower border, with the practice of mixed flower border in our company,through studying the different types of flower borders in south China, there were mainly two forms of flower border included punctiform arrangement and line arrangement.In the paper, it was discussed that were development direction of flower border in the south China and lower cost of maintenance flower border and so on. Select local plants and tropical plants can build the characteristics of plant landscape. That was introduction indigenous plant resources and application of economical landscape materials, and it provided theoretical basis on border flowers landscape of characteristic of south China and economical, the development direction of flower border was more clear.
