The speedy urbanization of China has changed the natural hydrological conditions. With global wanning, many universities in China are suffering from flood disaster, water pollution, and the shortage of water resource. The current infrastructures in universities are not sufficient to deal with the above problems because storm management plans are outdated and always prioritized behind all areas of urbanization. The current stormwater management plan has lost both its regenerative and sustainable values. The way of stormwater management relying solely on engineering infrastructure needs to be transformed. This thesis presents the design methods of sponge university based on Low Impact Development(LID). It aims to explore new landscape architecture ways for stormwater management in universities of china, which is conducive to pushing the construction of sponge city and the sustainable development of cities.This thesis will first explore overseas and domestic research status of Low Impact Development, and summarize good practice in universities. In view of the present situation of China’s universities, the thesis points out that the planning should follow the natural hydrological process and stormwater management needs to be included in the basic points of landscape design.The main body of this thesis attempts to develop a whole set of stormwater management specialized design method for sponge university. These campus land will serve the purposes of detention and retention, transfer, aquifer recharging, purification of stormwater, which has three aspects. First, establish the scale and layout of stormwater runoff control technology based on weather condition and land condition. Second, withnatural environment in the process of rainwater runoff, infiltration, transfer and retention,summarizing the technical points in application of stormwater runoff control design method from several aspects, like facility function, construction, design characteristics, and plants and so on. Third, express a reasonable prospect prediction for sponge university and the main points which should be focused on in the future detail design.This thesis wishes to change the design concept and emphasis more on rain water quality,runoff control and water resource utilization based on the research of sponge university construction with Low Impact Development in order to solve stonnwater issue in urban area and contribute to the development of sponge city.
