Warship is the carrier or launch platform for weapons, and has played an important role in modern sea battle. So it's very significant to research on the ship detection and tracking. The detection of warship under complex sky and sea background is an important issue in military reconnaissance. Based on a large number of real and simulated infrared images, the infrared radiation characteristics of warship are analyzed and summarized, and the relevant features of radiation are extracted. Theoretic analysis and experiment test were applied and a dual-color detection algorithm based on Choquet fuzzy integral was proposed for warship targets.The research in this paper is conducted in 3 parts, and they are image simulation, infrared radiation characteristics and the detection of warship targets. The details are as follows:(1) The basic theory of heat transfer is discussed. Thermal conduction, convection and radiation are introduced in detail. The process of thermal conduction, convection and radiation is studied and the calculation methods of the quantity of heat are investigated.(2)The infrared image simulation is studied. Three-dimensional model of the ship is built using the measured infrared ship target image combining the material and environmental conditions. And we also get the temperature distribution of the ship target and the simulation images of ship.(3)The characters of the ship infrared radiation are studied. The statistical properties of radiation are obtained from the measured and simulated images, and then compared with each other.(4)The Method of detecting ship targets in dual-color infrared image is studied. The theory of fuzzy integrals is brought into the algorithm of ship target detection. The proposed method uses the basic features of the image, such as the pixel gray value, the local gradient and the local multi scale variance. Experimental results show that this method can effectively extract the target ship from sea background, and significantly improve the accuracy of detection.Research in the thesis has shown that the result of infrared image simulation by Redtherm has a high reliability and the method is useful for the application of infrared simulation. The method of detecting ship targets in dual-color infrared image can effectively detect ship targets from complex sea backgrounds, which is very useful both in the military applications and the academic study.
