With the rapid development of air transportation in China, rapid increasing traffic demand leads to the imbalance with the supply. In that situation, the problem of airspace crowding has extended from airport and terminal area to the en-route. In order to balance contradiction between supply and demand of en-route resource, reasonable and scientific evaluation of en-route capacity is highly demanded. Evaluation of en-route capacity shows vital practical effect in implementing collaborative management between airspace capacity and traffic flow, increasing en-route resource usage and reducing flight delays.Firstly, the background and significance of this subject were discussed in the thesis, following that a summary of research in evaluation of en-route capacity across the world was performed. Furthermore, the concept of en-route operation was introduced. After defining the concept of en-route and en-route capacity, the factors that influence en-route capacity and the influence mechanism were analysed. The evaluation module of theoretic and realistic en-route capacity containing the influence factors of en-route capacity were established. The theoretic en-route capacity module took the impact of traffic flow on crossing route and other en-route structure factor into account, while the realistic en-route capacity module considering the workload of air traffic controller and the coupling of airspace. In order to prove the feasibility of this evaluation module, evaluating the theoretic and realistic en-route capacity of A593 route. In the end, the operation scene of A593 route was established through RAMS simulation software. The criteria for en-route saturation and incensement method were put forward in this paper. In addition, making the en-route saturated by using incensement method according to the criteria. Then the maximum operational ability of A593 route was achieved then explored the weakness of A593 route operation. After analyzing the output data from multiple incensement state, the average delay time of en-route was acquired in different incensement states. In order to find out the acceptable delay level, the fitting chart of traffic quantity and delay time was drawn. With that result, the operational capacity of A593 under the acceptable delay level was finally achieved.
