Hydrodynamic shape design is an important part of overall Underwater Glider design job. Because hydrodynamic shape is closely related to the quality and efficiency of its gliding motion. In summary, the main objective is to get the best gliding performance with lowest gliding under certain constrains.Deep Underwater glider as an effective new marine exploration platform, emerged in recent year. The methods used for designing hydrodynamic shape is still relatively narrow and complicated. The paper aims to make a simple analysis on hydrodynamic of Underwater Glider and summary of a kind of convenient hydrodynamic calculation formulas. Providing some suggestions for hydrodynamic optimization or hydrodynamic configuration with further Underwater Glider design job.First, start from the basic fluid dynamic theory, split the flow field into inviscid and viscid depending on whether considering viscous effect, and analyze their flow field characteristics, introduce and discuss about hydrodynamic calculation formulas. Programming all the calculation procedure. Convenient for later repeating calculation.Then, the paper firstly discusses the Underwater Glider parametric modeling. Mainly make introduction of four most commonly profile lines used for Underwater Vehicle hull designation. Deeply research on the multi-objective optimization generic algorithm, based on this algorithm, combined with hydrodynamic calculation program and four profile lines' equation, construct the objective function, parameters feasible region, genetic operators, at last, iterate to have optimal hydrodynamic shape outline parameter values.Finally, through the help of CFD simulation technology, comparative analysis of the advantage and disadvantage between optimized outline and existing Underwater Glider's outline. Meanwhile in progress of analysis, summed up some regular law for optimize hull hydrodynamics. At last, calculate existing and optimized line hull with same appendages, the results show there is improvement on hydrodynamic performance and efficiency of gliding.
