In underwater environment fish has its unique way of detection and sensing.They canachieve kinds of function in complex fluid environment like preying, target recognition,through its special sensing organs (lateral line). This sensing principle develops a new wayfor underwater detection technology. Based on this detection principle of fish-lateral-line,the paper is about how to use flow field information of moving object for detection purpose.And through analysis of relationship between flow field information and targetfeature(length, shape, position, velocity), a novel underwater sensing algorithm isproposed.First of all, this paper systematically analyzes the fish-lateral-line biological structure,function mechanism, bionic application. Based on this analysis, a fish-lateral-lineequivalent analysis model by using flow field is proposed, and a theoretical analysis basisof flow field is estabished.Secondly, based on equivalent analysis model of moving object flow field, asimulation analysis has been systematically made. And it preliminary reveals theassociation between underwater moving object characteristics and feature of flow fieldround the cylinder. The object characteristics directly influence the pressure curve, whichmakes pressure maximum, minimum value and slope have different results in manifestation.Some kind of pressure feature is corresponding to single object characteristics, but most ofpressure feature is influenced by effect of several object characteristics. Therefore, thiseffect need to be analyzed.Finally, this paper calculates and analyses features of flow field under different objectcharacteristics. By using the potential flow theory and analyzing of simulation, theincidence of proportion (length and radius, detection distance and radius) to flow field isrevealed. Through deduction of round-head cylinder potential flow theory, influencingregularity of dectection distance and radius ratio to the pressure point has been achieved.this paper propose a method to calculate object characteristics (velocity, radius, length,detection distance),which uses flow field information of moving object under thecomprehending of bionic fish-lateral-line detection method, influence caused by differentobject characteristics and relationship between the flow field and object characteristics. This paper explores a novel detecting and sensing way in underwaterenvironment, and demonstrates the feasibility by using flow field informationfor target detection purpose. This work is of guiding significance for research on bionicdetecting engineering of fish lateral line in the future.
