Study On The Epidermis Design Of Retaining Walls In The Urban Landscape

In the trend of population urbanization, the urban construction welcomed a high speed pace of development. Due to the diversity of the terrain, combined with the construction of the city parks and residential districts, the roads are expanding and there is a large number of overpass construction and so on. Almost all of the engineering will have some changes in terrain elevation difference with various complex degrees as the national urban construction is still in the stage of extensive expansion. In order to protect and consolidate the solid and slope, the retaining walls are becoming essential and more valuable.With the development of modern landscape, most of the projects are no longer bulldozing the site topography as before. However, reserved parts of the terrain are only appropriate to blend the beauty level of the terrain elevation in difference with the designing scheme. People's aesthetic consciousness are improved year by year and it is starting to have the needs of landscape aesthetic expression for the variety of the site topography.In recent years, the deterioration of the global environment also popularizes and perfects people's environmental consciousness. The needs of building and designing various forms of the retaining walls will provide full potential of releasing the retaining walls and landscape with positive conditions. Up till now, it doesn't matter what the relevant theories of the retaining walls are, designing or practical construction, most of them are still at the same engineering level. The research theories on retaining walls' skin are not a lot, the actual construction is less as well.By analyzing a great deal of documents and resources, this paper reviews the theories and practical construction situations of retaining the walls. It summarizes and concludes the engineering design patterns of the retaining walls and their functionalities as well.Next to this it also focuses on a case of a successful retaining wall. Through the documentary and field research, this paper summarizes the existing problems and issues that people are facing when constructing retaining walls. In the end, this paper proposes some new ideas of surface design and retaining walls.In combination with the design project of the program which the author participated in, Zhuhui ecological park design(Hengyang, Hunan, China) is doing a research about retaining walls in the landscape of the park. Summarizing the different functions and forms of the retaining walls in various conditions, exploring methods of urban landscape ecological retaining walls from the perspective of ecological art. Forming a complete practical theory, in order to give some instructions and reference to the culture and ecology construction and reconstruction of the landscape retaining walls.
