Study On The Psychological Quality Of Pilots And Flight Safety

As operator of the aircraft, psychological qualities of pilots play a key role in flight safety. The study on the assessment of psychological qualities of pilots is very essential in order to understand fully and accurately the level of psychological qualities. It will provide the data for the assessment of pilots and the basis for pilots training programs of aviation colleges. Thereby, it will have an important significance in improving flight safety and the level of safety management. In this paper, by anzlyzing the theory of psychological quality,cognitive quality and personality trait are the content elements of psychological quality, and adaptive quality reflects its value function. By summing up the studies about psychological quality of pilots, the studies focused primarily on the objective measurement of cognitive quality and the subjective measurement of personality trait. Therefore, this paper would concentrate on the objective measurement of personality trait and the subjective measurement of adaptive quality and develop the corresponding measurement tools.Firstly, the relationship between personality trait and adaptive quality and flight safety were summarized. And then, the evaluation index system was built and the weight distribution was determined by improving G1 method and DEMATEL method. Secondly, based on performance test, the measurement tool of personality trait was designed. Measure parameters were extracted from signal detection theory, basic statistical principle and performance curve analysis, and their effectiveness is experimentally validated. Thirdly, adaptive quality scale of civil aviation pilots was established according to the theory and method of scale development.The availability of scale was verified by content analysis, item analysis, factor analysis,reliability analysis and validity analysis. Finally, the software interface of performance test was showed, and the scale was preliminary applied to the pilot students. Some conclusions about adaptive qualities such as overall level, score distributions and the differences in class and age aspects were obtained. Besides, the management strategies on psychological quality of pilots were raised from three aspects such as selection standard, training system, and regulatory mechanism of psychological quality.Briefly, taking personality trait and adaptive quality of pilots as research objects, this paper develop measurement tool of personality trait based on performance test and adaptive quality scales of civil aviation pilots. These tools achieve the subjective and objective measurement of psychological quality, and enrich the methods for assessment of psychological quality. Using performance test to measure personality traits is an exploratory research and it remains to be further improved. The development of adaptive quality scale of civil aviation pilots makes up for the deficiency in this respect. They will have a promoting role in evaluating psychological quality of pilots.
