Due to the limitation of land resources, closely spaced parallel runways with its characteristics of saving land and flexible operations are adopted by more domestic and foreign airports. But its capacity is limited by the traditional segregated parallel operations.Therefore, dependent approach procedures in closely spaced parallel runways are studied by referencing the idea of "Time interval-Capacity" by Blumstein and Steady State Queuing Theory of FAA, and based on approach horizontal separation, capacity and delay calculation models of closely spaced parallel runways were built here. The above models were used to analyze 1.5 nm dependent approach procedures and HALS/DTOP approach procedures, and the correctness of the capacity and delay calculation model built above were proved also.Further based on capacity and delay models and wake flow sink movement theory,Configuration parameters of closely spaced parallel runways were analyzed. On this basis, the above capacity and delay models were applied to closely spaced parallel runways in Shanghai Pudong airport to research its capacity and delay level and at the same time reasonable suggestions were given to Pudong airport. The specific results are as follows:(1) The capacity and delay calculation models of closely parallel runways with dependent approach procedures were established and calculation method of minimum runway threshold stagger distance was obtained here also.(2) The capacity and delay models were used in some foreign airports in which dependent approach procedures were conducted and the research results were compared with Simmod simulation data and data from refrences to prove the feasibility of above models.Further Configuration parameters of closely spaced parallel runways conducting dependent approach procedures were analyzed based on above models and the results can provide some suggestions for the plan and operation of closely spaced parallel runways.(3) The approach procedures were applied on closely spaced parallel runways in Pudongairport. And according to the operation efficiency and operation safety regulations, somereasonable operation suggestions on introduction dependent approaches procedure.inShanghai Pudong airport were put forward here.
