Aluminum alloy has its unique advantages, such as lightness, corrosion resistance, nonmagnetic, easy extrusion process and attractive appearance. Because of these advantages, the application of the aluminium single-layer latticed shells are getting wider, and more and more attention is attracted. In china, Temcor Joint is adopted in most of aluminium alloy single-layer latticed shells. However, Temcor Joint has an excessive number of bolts and a bad shearing behavior. So, in this paper, a new type of joint called Column Plate Joint is developed. The main content of this paper includes:(1) Numerical simulation model of Column Plate JointIn order to get more accurate modeling result, bolt pretightening force, bolt installation gap and contacts are considered in the model.(2) Optimization analysis of Column Plate JointIn this part, the research focus on the optimization analysis on the position and number of front bolts, bolt installation gap, bolt type, sickness of front plate. The influence of heat affected zone caused by the welding work between front plate and beam is investigated. The results show that the position and number of front plate, bolt installation gap and bolt type have a great effect on the mechanical behavior of the joint.(3) Mechanical behavior comparison of Column Plate Joint and Temcor Joint under a variety of loadIn this part, the research focus on the mechanical behavior comparison of Column Plate Joint and Temcor Joint under pure bending, axial compression, axial tension, eccentric compression, eccentric tension, bending with axial compression, bending with axial tension and shear bend. The results show that Column Plate Joint has obvious advantage over Temcor Joint under pure bending, axial compression, eccentric compression, bending under compression and shear bend; and for other load cases, the mechanical behavior of Column Plate Joint is superior to Temcor Joint.(4) Analysis of mechanical behavior of aluminium single-layer elliptical paraboloid latticed shells with Column Plate JointBy integrating the moment-rotation curves of the Column Plate Joint to the numerical model of reticulated domes, the finite element models of aluminium single-layer elliptical paraboloid latticed shells with Column Plate Joint are established with ANSYS. The parametric analyses of the semi-rigidly jointed aluminium single-layer elliptical paraboloid latticed shells are carried out with different parameters, including bending stiffness, ratio of rise to span, rotation-stiffness, asymmetric load distribution, support condition and initial imperfection. The ultimate bearing capacity of latticed shells with Column Plate Joint is obtained and compared with that of latticed shells with Temcor Joint. The overall stability of the semi-rigidly jointed single-layer domes are mastered.
