Cooling tower is one of the most important parts of the thermal power plant,it is a large hyperbolic shell structures. On the foundation bearing capacity and settlement requirements higher, it normally takes on natural foundation for processing to meet the requirements. Vibro replacement stone column is the common methods of foundation treatment of cooling tower is currently devoted to the less researches on cooling tower of gravel pile composite foundation, lack of experience in design and construction. Therefore, of vibro replacement stone pile method in foundation treatment of cooling tower design method has important theory significance and practical value.This paper analysis the gravel pile composite foundation bearing mechanism,citing Jixi Datang thermal power plant cooling tower engineering survey data, the commonly used vibro replacement gravel pile composite foundation bearing capacity calculation method were compared and analyzed. The results of the analysis show that the method of pile limit bearing force calculation results and field loading tests showed a certain bias. On the basis of, propose amendments to the passive earth pressure method for calculating pile limit bearing capacity, the original method to soil heavy side of the maximum stress value as the weight of the soil average lateral extrusion force, the unreasonable, for this correction, to Z range soil self weight stress average as the soil self weight average side extrusion force. Through the calculation example, the modified method is more accurate and more close to the engineering practice.According to the foundation of cooling tower processing requirements and vibroflotation method in foundation of gravel pile composite foundation design process is proposed, and to rely on Jixi Datang thermal power plant cooling tower construction, design of gravel pile composite foundation in accordance with the process, in the design process to formula combined with engineering experience to determine the design parameters, using the modified passive earth pressure method for calculating bearing capacity calculation of the capacity of the and vibro replacement gravel pile composite foundation settlement analysis and, finally, a complete and feasible design. The rationality of the design scheme is confirmed by the in-situ test and the monitoring data.
