Uniaxial compressive strength is a commonly mechanic index of geotechnical engineering mechanics. It usually be tested by precision rock specimen in the common experimental study. Despite its test method is relatively simple, but it’s time-consuming and expensive. Therefore, we need a simple method to measure the strength of rock to monitoring the strength of rock mass timely. Tablet compression test completely meets the requirements because of simple experimental equipment and rich source of specimen. It’s easy to application in related fields because of the requireless of rock specimen. But because of the irregularity of the specimens, there are many effects on the test results. So we should do some research about it, and find the solution, apply to the engineering eventually. We completed a large number of tablet compression test and uniaxial compression test, in different rock and different moisture content conditions. After data analysis and related research, we have the following conclusions:(1) We did the the tablet compression test by tablet compression test system, using irregular rock sample under different rock and moisture content conditions. To disscuss the size effect of the tablet compression strength and failure mode and correct the size effect of tablet compression test effectively.(2) Use the MTS815 rock mechanics test system of chongqing university to do the conventional uniaxial compression test by normal rock specimens of different height-diameter ratio and diameter, and discuss the size effect of uniaxial compression strength, determine the rational dimensions of standard test specimen, get the standard uniaxial compression strength.(3) Optimize the formula of tablet compression strength(qu), correct the size effect of qu effectively, get the rock uniaxial compressive strength estimation formula by the strength of tablet compression and unicial compression test.(4) Completed the data statistical analysis, explored the anisotropy effect of rock’s qu, and calculated the minimum number of specimens according to the results of the statistical analysis to optimize experiment scheme. |
