With the progress of science and technology and the rapid development of railway construction, medium and high speed traffic tools including multiple unit train and electric high-speed locomotive gradually taking the place of ordinary vehicle are becoming the first choice of people's travel. Therefore, the upgrading of the vehicle-mounted equipment becomes very urgent. Among them, the most important thing is the technical innovation of the Vehicle-mounted-electric-water-heater. Vehicle-mounted-electric-water-heater not only meets the needs of passengers and crew for daily drinking water, but also provides convenient services for passengers' warm and wash. In all, Vehicle-mounted-electric-water-heater has an important meaning for serving passengers and crew. According to the Vehicle-mounted-electric-water-heater's research status and customer needs, a new type of overall design scheme for electric water heater has been put forward. This scheme has not only solved the problems such as “thousand-boiled-water”, “dry-heating” and so on which have been in existence for a long time, but also proposed some intelligent schemes such as self-sensing, adaptive and so on. And the scheme has made a step forward in the direction of safe and reliable, energy and efficient and operation intelligent.This paper has carried out a detailed and rigorous demonstration from the development of the control panel of the Vehicle-mounted-electric-water-heater to the development process of control system. Meanwhile this paper has done type-selection-experiment and performance-verification for important components, and the preparation of the control program is based on the experimental results of these components. The control system of this paper is composed of two 8-bit Infineon MCU(XC886-8FF-CLM and XC866-2FR). The upper control panel is composed of the host(XC886-8FF), temperature acquisition module(DS18B20), air pressure measurement module(BMP180), Anti dry heating module(K type thermocouple), water heating module, water exchange module, drainage module and other external device and interface circuit while the under control panel is composed of slave machine, drainage module, leak proof module and other external device and interface circuit. The host and the slave machine which exchange data by using serial communication technology complete boot self-check, water heating automatically, water exchange automatically, drainage automatically and anti-freeze emptying and some other functions. The test software is developed by C# in the platform of visual studio 2010. And the test software can be used to check the performance and interface circuits detection and related peripheral and sensor performance verification of the control boards before they are out of the factory.In the end, the hardware and software of the system have already been debugged, and the platform of the system has also been completed. Based on the completion of the system platform, we have finished some experiments with the system, and we have also optimized the system. A newly developed vehicle-mounted-electric-water-heater has been trialed to run on the multiple unit train which is running on the line from Shenyang to Dandong.
