Material Expression Based On Perception

With the continuous development of economy, people's demand for the function of the building and the demand of the trial continue to improve, which requires the architects' innovative consciousness to follow the footsteps. The new use of the traditional building materials and the combination of the new building materials, new building materials promotes in the birth of spring. The use of the material to meet the meaning expression of the architectural text, is the problem that architects need to study.However, in such a large amount of information, how to choose the appropriate material vocabulary to express the ideas of building image and building atmosphere is a confusing thing in many architects. This article is based on the perception of materials as the premise of that material in the architectural space and form of expression, and materials in the construction of their own design and expression.In this study, we first explain the basic process of the information which is collected and digested by the viewer, and then, the process of perception, and the integration of building materials. Cognition goes through the whole process of perception in the cognition structure of the viewer, which leads to the perception of the material surface texture.In building materials, the expression of the content is not only on the surface of the visual attributes, but there is a kind of concept based on perception. In the purely architectural space and the form of architecture, modern architects are willing to cut the surface of the material to reduce the property of this material, which can be highlights of the construction space and the architectural form of the concept. While in the process of building materials, the overall concept of building materials in the cognitive process will be in order to guide the whole space and architectural image. In addition, due to the special nature of some materials, the material itself can not binding on inside and outside the building space surface, but blend in space to form the emergence of boundary space, the transparent between space and the other, or even create a spatial perception of illusory.And in today's architectural design, the material does not only do as the vocabulary of space and architectural image for building expression. In the expression of many buildings, architects design for building materials s o that the material itself could be the center and highlights of the architecture text. At this time, the materials speak for themselves, and represent the whole building because of the "hermeneutic circle". Self expression of material is a kind of challen ge with the cognitive concept in cognitive structure. Because of the concept of materials in the cognitive structure, the alienation may be produced in the surface texture of building materials, or comes out from its use and construction, or from the formation of the material's interpretation and the formation of the material's cognitive conceptAnyway, both for architectural space and form, or for the performance of its special design, building materials have important significance for the expression of the building itself. Then, in turn, in the face of the material selection, whether the viewer perceptions of building materials are suitable to create the right architectural space and image shape, and whether or not let the material application to become leading architectural image, must be in consideration before the selection and design for vocabularies of material.
