UHV has been the core of the smart grid construction and the cornerstone of global energy interconnection, which provides strong support for the implementation of China's energy strategy, and the development of the UHV transmission has become an inevitable trend.This paper has reviewed the development and research status of power system simulation in the world and the UHV transmission, and has presented the main research work. Based on the power simulation system ADPSS, an electromechanical transient model of large power grid and an electromagnetic transient simulation model of the UHV transmission line have been established after the UHV access of Jiangxi power grid, and the accuracy of electromagnetic transient simulation has been verified by comparing with the electromechanical transient model. The research work has been carried out on the electromechanical model and electromagnetic simulation model, which investigates the reactive power compensation strategy of the UHV transmission line, the Internal Overvoltage and the influence of UHV on security and stability of Jiangxi power grid.Based on the established model, the reactive power compensation strategy and the internal overvoltage of the UHV transmission line have been studied. To find an appropriate compensation strategy for Jiangxi power grid, there is need to study the influence of different positions of the reactive power compensation devices and compensation on the steady state voltage. The mechanism of internal overvoltage in the UHV transmission line has been verified through hybrid simulation. The relationship between the internal overvoltage of the UHV transmission line and the compensation degree of shunt reactor has been discussed and the effect of installing closing resistor to reduce the operation over voltage has been investigated.Finally, study the influence of UHV on the security and stability of Jiangxi power grid, mainly including: The static security flow check of the UHV transmission line and the contact line of Hubei and Jiangxi provinces; The short-circuit calculation about whether the short-circuit current level will exceed the switch breaking capacity after the UHV acess to Jiangxi power grid; By using small interference stable analysis to judge whether UHV will bring the low frequency oscillation; The transient security analysis of Jiangxi power grid after the fault of the UHV transmission circuit. The problems and weaknesses of Jiangxi power grid have been pointed out, then we put forward the corresponding measures to ensure the safe and stable operation of Jiangxi power grid.
