Aircraft docking guidance system can provide accurate and criteria instructions for the safety docking of the aircraft at the airdrome, which replaces the primal manual guidance mode. It is not only a very important system but a part of the civil aviation airport when aircraft is working on ground, and it has great significance for the safety docking of the aircraft. A complete and effective guidance system can improve the utilization of flight resources and reduce flight delays, so it can comprehensively improve the management level of the airport station and save running costs.Firstly, current research situation of aircraft docking guidance system at home and abroad was analyzed. Upon the induction of relative ICAO specification in detail, it builds up the technology foundation on how to guide aircraft to dock. A novel scheme to guide aircraft to dock is proposed. Through analysis of optical theory and the research on method of detecting aircraft position using multi-sensor, the aircraft docking guidance based on optics is designed. In addition, some key techniques such as designation of the mechanical structure and the finite analysis of relative structure are discussed in detail. Secondly, some key factors such as the component selectivity, corresponding electronic modules and program management are discussed in detail. Finally, a testing method and a part of conducted experiments are described. The results show that the system can achieve the requirements of ICAO and meet the application requirements of the airport.Above all, the system has the guidance function for aircraft docking which is an organic of optics, mechanics and electronics. The designed software and hardware systems and related control systems can provide a new and effective method for the development of aircraft docking guidance system.
