The hydraulic torque converter have been widely used because of their special torque characteristics since they were invented, but they still have deficiencies of inefficient and small efficient area-wide in the real work, so that their range of application has been severely restricted. Therefore, improving the efficiency of the torque converter, increasing efficiency range area, to enhance economic applicability of hydraulic torque converter has very important significance.LB46 adjustable guide vane hydraulic torque converter was used as the research object in this paper, which is mastered earlier in the country, the turbine blade leaf type was taken as the design object, the efficiency of torque converter in the design condition was used as the optimization objective. Through integrating the parameterized model, the automatic division of high quality grid and fluid simulation by Workbench, a new turbine blade was designed to make economic applicability of the torque converter has improved significantly. Meanwhile, optimization process has a certain reference value to other rotating machinery optimization.The main work in this article includes the following sections:(1) The background and significance of hydraulic torque converter were introduced, and the research status at home and abroad were introduced.(2) The numerical calculation of LB46 hydraulic torque converter was carried out by using the extremely versatile structure grid which is divided by Turbogrid. The simulation results was compared with experimental data to verify the correctness of numerical methods and grid availability. In the analysis of the internal flow field distribution of the model, it was found that the output efficiency of the hydraulic torque converter can be improved by two ways, such as increasing the load of the impeller and improving the flow separation phenomenon.(3) The parametric method of Bezier's three curve was used to integrate with the turbine blade type of LB46 adjustable guide vane hydraulic torque converter. The numerical simulation on the fitting model was carried out in different conditions. By comparing with simulation results, the maximum fitting error of the efficiency(?) was 1.3%, the maximum fitting error of the torque coefficient was 4.1%, and the maximum fitting error of the pump wheel torque coefficient was 3.13%. The feasibility of fitting method was proved and parametric models can be used to optimize the turbine leaf type.(4) Through integrating with the parameterized model, the automatic division of high quality grid and fluid simulation by Workbench and using Multi-objective genetic algorithm to optimize the shape control parameters of the three Bessel curve of turbine blade, the turbine leaf type whose efficiency in the design condition was improved 3.84% was obtained. Through comparing the original characteristics before and after optimization, it was found that efficiency range area can increase 5.84% by using optimized turbine leaf type. Through the analysis of internal flow field distribution, it was found the increase of turbine torque was mainly due to the increase of turbine load bearing, also found flow separation phenomenon did not efficiently reduce.
