Under the evolution of tunnel construction, the construction of tunnels develops rapidly in China, amounting to over 1000. Given that our country is vast in territory, engineering geological condition is complicated and mutable. In the process of excavation, the means of using geophysical prediction is able to predict geological conditions surrounded by frontal rocks in tunnels, ensuring construction safety, accident prevention, disaster prediction and optimizing the construction process and design, all of which is of great significance in the field of tunnel construction. In essence, tunnel geological prediction is a supplementary geological tunnel construction survey. Compared with other advanced prediction geophysical methods, geological radar and TSP (tunnel seismic prediction ahead of the English abbreviation, hereinafter referred to as TSP) are widely exploited in pragmatic engineering.According to the summary of tunnel geological prediction methods, this paper illustrates the basic principle of geological radar, TSP detection technology, electromagnetic wave and seismic wave propagation and attenuation process; analyzing of geological radar and TSP data acquisition in the field of parameter setting, on-site measuring attention test, eliminating the interference in accuracy of the collected data; on this basis, this paper lists all the advantages and disadvantages of the application of geological radar and TSP in reality through an assortment of surveys conducted in different countries. Additionally, this paper put forward the proposals that we should combine geological radar with TSP advanced forecasting technology in the same project. It substantiates that these methods can improve geological prediction accuracy and reliability.All in all, Geological radar has advantages over others in the aspects of detecting structure saturated with water, which is fast and convenient but merely for short distance; the usage of TSP in detecting faults and fracture zones is fabulous and has good reputation around the world. Due to the difficulty in testing such a long distance, the single geophysical means to achieve the precise prediction of the tunnel is sometimes unrealistic. However, the combination of GPR and TSP are capable of improving the prediction accuracy drastically.
