Accurate prediction of geological conditions in front of excavating face is an essential requirement for the tunnel builders, and every country in the world has been taking it as a key research task since the 1980s. Accurate and effective geological prediction not only saves a lot of cost for construction corporations but also accelerates the construction progress, and more importantly, improves the construction quality of tunnel projects, so the application of geological prediction ahead is getting more extensive in tunnel construction. Geological prediction is divided into long-term forecasting and short-term forecasting, which are the two successive steps in the work of geological prediction. Geomechanical analysis and geological prediction are are an requirement for scientific, safe and rapid construction. On the basis of geomechanical application in macro prediction, a variety of means of forecasting can be adopted and comprehensive geological prediction can be carried through for the tunnel.Long-term geological prediction is the long-range forecast on the basis of macro prediction by applying technical means of TSP prediction and survey of ground geology in the fault zone of the tunnel, and it is an indispensable and the first procedure for geological disasters prediction in the construction. While geophysical exploration methods for long-term geological prediction should be vigorously developed and actively used as quick "surveillance" means, short-term geological prediction is the short-range forecast on the basis of long-term geological prediction by applying technical means of face compiling method, geological radar detection method and infrared detection method on the fault zone in the tunnel. Geological analysis method is the most essential method for geological prediction. No interpretation or application of information from geophysical exploration and advance drilling can be achieved without it , neither can judgment of observation and collected geological data in the tunnel construction. Without this basic procedure, it is difficult to achieve good results even if advanced detection methods are adopted. The organic combination of several methods can constitute a complete technology system for geological prediction. In this paper, the adoption of Shaanxi Highway hongyan James Wan Tunnel and six double-track tunnel Cao Formation of the two projects were examples of TSP-203 and geological radar technology to detect and interpret the elaborate method. First, a brief introduction of the two basic principles of detection. Secondly, for a period of project milestones in the exploration and interpretation. Finally, the analysis and study of TSP-203 in the prediction and interpretation of the geological problems encountered during the proposed solution to the problem. One focus will be on TSP-203 and geological radar technology to detect and interpret the methods proposed to increase the accuracy of the method of detection.Practice has proved that the use of TSP-203 and ground penetrating radar to detect not only improve the tunnel geological prediction accuracy and to speed up the progress of the tunnel, but also for future similar tunnel geological prediction to provide a meaningful reference.
