Winch is a common towing equipment in the industrial field, which is also widely used to drag and drop the steel wire rope as the object. It's application field has expanded from factories, mines, ports, construction and marine fields to the aerospace field with the rapid development of science and technology. Also,the development of drag and drop objects are diversified.In this paper the communication relay tethered balloon scheme by retractable winch is designed to apply to civil fields. Considering to the performing characteristics that the towed object is the hybrid optical cable, we have made large theory and experimental analysis on the traction mechanism and the cable storage mechanism. The software of measuring and controlling system has been developed. Besides, reliability analysis is conducted in the finished winch system test. This paper has the certain theoretical value and practical engineering significance.The first chapter introduces the composition, application and development of tethered balloon, briefly reviews the winch application, the control technology and also tells the characteristics and key technology of the retractable tethered balloon by winch in the concrete application, then elaborates the work plan required to carry out.The second chapter introduces the design scheme of the tethered balloon by winch, including the traction machine, the cable storage unit and the electric control of the winch.The third chapter mainly studies on the linear tension release technology with variable coefficient of friction between the tractor driving wheel and the mooring rope. Finish the design calculation of the tractor driving force and the check of related heavy parts. Besides, a kind of variable-diameter flexible cable arrangement is designed. Meantime the capacity cable is modeled and the synchronization technology of the cable storage machine and the traction machine is realized.The fourth chapter analyzes function of measurement and control system, completes the hardware design of the measurement and control system. And the relevant software to achieve the function of the retractable tethered balloon by winch is realized.The fifth chapter finishes reliability index assignment of the winch based on the method of reliability index weighted distribution.It also completes the analysis of failure mode and the harmfulness condition.The sixth chapter is the main experimental part of the winch system, including the tail cable tension sensor and calibration test, the load test, speed test and braking ability test, system debugging and the retractable mooring line length test after debugging etc. Experimental results show that the precision of the winch speed is up to 4% and the precision of the the cable length is up to 1.25%.The test results show that the design of the winch meets the expected requirements, and the work is stable and reliable.The seventh chapter summarizes the full text and explains some of the content to be further studied and guides the next step of research work.
