Study On The Comfort Of Academic Library Buildings

Academic libraries are important places for teachers and students to do scientific research. Recently, with the improvement and development of society, academic libraries are going to play a bigger role which can extend to other fields. Facing the impact of Internet and E-journal, promoting of users'demand, libraries realize that providing convenient, efficient and comfortable environment for users and librarians is more and more important. Based on comfortable environment, buildings are constructed for people. Only comfortable environment can ensure people's health and increase efficiency. Library cultural characteristics and cultural spirit symbols are manifested by library comfort.Based on relevant research and analysis in domestic and overseas, and surveys on the comfort of library building in domestic, the comfort of academic library building are studied, and the concept of library building comfort is put forward. Then combing the relevant theoretical basis of environmental psychology, ergonomics, demand theory, the relationship between functions and comfort in academic library buildings is concretely analyzed, and constituting elements of comfort in academic library buildings from physiology and psychology users' demand in the new situation are also researched. Later, the demand and opinions to the comfortable buildings and using conditions in librarian office with surveying five academic libraries in Nanjing by on-the-spot investigation, questionnaire, interviewing and so on are learned. Afterwards, the comfort of five academic library buildings is compared side by side, the similarity and difference are concluded, and then the improvement direction is determined. Finally, building principle and strategy of academic library buildings is concluded and summarized, hoping it is referential to construct comfortable academic library buildings.
