With the rapid development of modern timber structure, large-span timber structure is increasingly widely used in public buildings due to attractive appearance and green nature. Large-span timber structure is widely used in stadiums, exhibition halls and other large public buildings in some timber structure developed area, such as Europe, North America and Japan etc. Our country is also actively introducing large span timber structure. Reflects its many advantages aside, there have been some collapsed cases of large-span timber roof structure. The study of progressive collapse in modern timber structure currently is less, which may become constraints of modern timber structure in our country's development.The present paper focus on robustness of laminated timber plane truss structure, conducted a test and numerical simulation. The main contents can be summarized in the following sections:(1) An initial failure inducing apparatus and the lateral displacement device was developed. The initial failure inducing apparatus is used to simulate incident mechanism, which does not affect the test model and can be reused, is the key to the success of the continuous collapse test. The lateral displacement device is consist of a universal bead and a toughened glass as well as an anti side support, which can not only ensure the plane truss has enough out-of-plane stiffness, but also to ensure free movement within the structure of the plane.(2) The experiment of static load test and the continuous collapse test of the rod were carried out, and the influence of the load factor and the initial failure position on the structure of the structure were investigated.(3) Based on the Abaqus/explicit analysis module. The predefined field is used to import the structure state after static loading into progressive collapse analysis model as the initial state model, thereby performing nonlinear dynamic progressive collapse analysis. The test model is used to correct the numerical models, and numerical model to reproduce the the trial process. Then the mechanism of progressive collapse of the truss plane model is obtained. Based on this model, the influence of the lateral constraint condition, the position of the failure component and the pore size of the bolt hole and the bolt on the progressive collapse of the model were analyzed.(4) Quantitative evaluation of structural robustness of glued laminated timber truss plane structures from the aspect of the component vulnerability coefficient and the component importance coefficient.
