The Application Of Architectural Elements Of The ’Hui’ Style In Modern Hotel Interior Design

The well-preserved and protected traditional living houses in Huizhou district have been lasting for centuries. The building style has its rich and historical cultural implications and esthetic appeals as well.It has been considered one integral and very important part of traditional Chinese architectural culture. Therefore, the philosophical ideas, ethics, conventions and arts embodied in the traditional buildings of Hui style need to be studied and absorbed in the modern architectural application.In this thesis, we mainly explored how to absorb the traditional Hui’s architectural thoughts into the interior design in modern hotels, in order that, on the one hand, the spiritual essence of Hui style can be well preserved and inherited, on the other hand, the design will satisfy modern requirements.The thesis, first of all, elaborated the cultural entailments and the functional features of Hui style, and then illustrated the disciplines of application of Hui style in interior design of modern hotels. It is necessary that the application of elements of Hui style in modern hotel design take into consideration of the buildings’natural environments and the use of the local natural resources, to incarnate the traditional Hui’s cultural ideas of integration of human beings into nature.Mainly focusing on the research of the application of the Hui’s cultural elements in the interior design and the building’s local features, the case study of Hotel of YijingJunlai (literally beautiful scenery attracting all the guests) in Huangshan Mount intends to share some architectural insights in modern hotel interior design.
