The detection method of partial discharge(PD) using ultrasonic array signals is a new method that applies array signal process technique(ASPT) and the array sensor to the PD detection. Inside, extraction and sparse the signal of partial discharge ultrasonic array can adopt the optimal sparse array, more accurate positioning accuracy, effectively reduce complexity of the algorithm and time of computation.This paper is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China(51307060) “Research on the extraction strategy of partial discharge ultrasonic array signals”, Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities(2014MS84) “Research on the acoustic performance and structure optimization of PD ultrasonic array sensor” and New Energy Power Systems State Key Laboratory Fund(LAPS14011) “Research on Multiple Partial Discharge Location by Ultrasonic Array”. Emphatically to carry out the research on evaluating the PD ultrasonic array sensor's dimension reduction processing technology and its sparse design. The direction finding and positioning of the single and the double sources are studied based on the more excellent and sparse array sensor. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, a dimension reduction processing technology of signal based on genetic algorithm for partial discharge ultrasonic array is proposed. According to it, the sparsity of 2 order(reserved seven array elements) and sparsity for 3rd order(reserved 6 array elements) optimum sensor array of the 9 yuan circular ring are obtained. This paper discusses the effect of the establishment of coordinate system on the dimensional optimization of structure formation.Secondly, the array which had been mentioned previously is used to be direction finding and location for single PD source using the MUSIC algorithm, the three platform positioning principle and experimental platform of partial discharge ultrasonic array detection. The simulation and experimental results show the positioning accuracy of the circular array sensor using the method of dimension reduction is more exactly than that of the other 3 kinds of random sparse structures and the correctness of it.Then the array which had been mentioned previously is used to be direction finding and location for double PD sources using the Root-MUSIC algorithm, the three platform positioning principle and experimental platform of partial discharge ultrasonic array detection. The simulation and experimental results is more accurate.
