In the distribution network planning and design work, AutoCAD has become the major graphics processing tools due to its superior graphics processing capacity and broad secondary development. Applying geography wiring diagram to analysis and design projects is an important part of designers’ daily work. Generally, drawing geography wiring diagram is time-consuming, coupled with the lack of automatic drawing, the design cycle is long and the work efficiency is low and so on. Therefore, how to liberate designers from tedious graphics drawing and data rectification by AutoCAD has become an urgent problem to be solved.This paper introduced the research significance about AutoCAD software and it’s secondary development in distribution network planning, introduced and analyzed current software developed for distribution network planning. On this basis, According to the general process of software development, designed an intelligent software for distribution network planning base on AutoCAD and it’s secondary development.The software’s characteristics are fragmentation, modularization, automation, One-key and digitization, combined with distribution network planning and design guidelines, used VBA as the programming language. The software contains: a data processing function module of GPS coordinate data processing and medium-voltage distribution topology structure automatic query & fill in; a data processing function module of automatic drawing constituted by medium-voltage distribution transformer automatic drawing, medium-voltage circuit automatic drawing and branch name searching; a data processing function module of pole tower type choosing combined with the typical design of distribution network project of State Grid Corp; a data processing function module of open network power flow calculation; a data processing function module of single power feeder reliability calculation. The data information source of each data processing function module is distribution network planning and design data input database; The base of automatic drawing function module is graphic element library; The guideline specification of electrical calculation refer to pole tower type choosing is knowledge database system.This paper took the medium-voltage circuits of a city in Jiangxi province as an example, completed the automatic drawing, power flow calculation, pole tower type choosing and reliability calculation by each data processing function module of this software. The result shows that this software can draw the required graphics accurately and rapidly, calculate the power flow automatically, and achieve the desired results.
