With the development of image science and radio communication, the use of real-time video(image) transmission system has been widely used in the army, such as video conferencing and battlefield surveillance systems etc. These systems have been mainly used in command and control, video conferencing, video surveillance, video recording and other places. In the people’s Liberation Army Brigade(Regiment)-level units, video(image) transmission systems are mainly used in communication with the parent or sibling, the Brigade(Regiment) below the level of the units, video(image) transmission system is seldom used. In modern war, accelerate the pace of the battlefield, fighters fleeting, requires commanders at all levels must be timely, accurate, and detailed grasp of conditions on the ground and enemy information. Therefore, the construction of applied Brigade(Regiment) units below level video(image) transmission system is becoming more and more important. At present, the Brigade(Regiment) below the level of units communication equipment are all types of short wave(USW) radio stations, although these stations have the function of data transmission, but the main or the transmission of voice,, and video(image) cannot be achieved real-time transmission. Hence, this paper proposes a set of image transmission system, which is the current force tactical radio on the basis of universal equipment, load a digital Terminal, real-time image capture, compression and wireless image transmission through a tactical radio, so commanders real-time battlefield intelligence and reconnaissance information, and further enhance the ability to acquire battlefield situation.The main paper of this research is based on the tactical radio wireless image transmission system, the design and implementation of the key work is to complete the real-time image acquisition, compression processing, wireless data transmission, a serial port communication software design, etc. Subject the technical difficulties are based on Zedboard development board hardware system building and image real-time acquisition, compression, and the software of data transmission system design. Through repeated modification and after the experimental debugging, completed the wireless image transmission system and the corresponding software system design for the physical hardware platform, system performance achieved this topic began to put forward the design of the performance index, and made the image transmission system based on tactical radio terminal prototype.
