People's requirements of medical environment have been increasing under the influence of the "biological-psychological-social" medical model and "two children" policy. Crowded ward environment, unreasonable space layout and the monotony of indoor visual environment affect children's psychological feelings and are not conducive to the rehabilitation of children. This paper analyzed the ward environment and related equipment with regarding children's ward environment as the research object and adopting the field research method. Thus, it summarized the main problems of the children's ward environment that laid a foundation to the study of "Humanized design" for the children's ward environment, like unreasonable ward space scale, unreasonable furniture size, monotonous ward indoor environment, lack of interesting in decorating, etc. Through investigating sick children, sick children's family members, health care workers and other people and using the method of literature research, this paper knows that the psychological development of children is periodic. Children are prone to fear for unfamiliar environment matters and tend to be interested in colored environment that has more interesting, lightness and saturation elements. Sick children's family members tend to have ward environment that is private, safe and sanitary. And medical workers tend to have ward environment that has soft light color and spacious room.On the theoretical basis of Ergonomics and Children's psychology, main factors that affect the design of children's ward environment are summarized. There are internal factors, such as use people's demand, the suitability of space scale, the conformance of furniture, luminous environment and color environment, and external factors, such as architectural space structure, medical technology and people's concept of accepting treatment. All those internal and external factors contribute to the design of children's ward environment. To meet the psychological and physiological needs of children, children's families and medical staff, the children's ward environment design should follow interior design rules that are general principle, security principle, convertible principle, easy-to-care principle. In this paper, the design concept of "humanized" children's ward environment is discussed in view of the different psychological and physiological needs of different people, the general design principles and methods of the children's ward environment design are put forward and a set of children's ward space environment design project that conforms to the concept of "humanized" principle is worked out.
