In recent years with the construction and improvement of railway, highway, water conservancy and municipal engineering, a growing number of road- Road and water- road crossing points are formed between different road networks, which made many flat vertical interchange project existing after Engineering Operations. Box culvert structure, as one of the architectural forms to solve the problem of traffic network and water conservancy project, is applied more and more widely. In the design of box culvert structure, the haunched is usually set up in the corner of the structure to meet the structural requirements, and improve the structure of the force, thus forming the rigid zone.In this paper take the single span box culvert,symmetric and asymmetric double-span box culvert as an example to investigate the effect of rigid zone of box culvert structure. Analysis the force and deformation of box culvert structure, which is based on the design parameters of the structure and characteristics of the rigid zone. Explore the influence and the variation laws of the effect of the regid zone on the structure. In this paper, the following work has been done to solve this problem and the relevant conclusions are drawn.(1) Consult relevant literature. Comprehend the structural characteristics of box culvert and the present situation of research status at home and abroad on the rigid zone effect.(2) Through the comparison of unit width model, grillage model, plate element model and Entity unit model and the comparison of the analysis methods of the rigid zone effect, understand the differerces in the methods. The analysis model and method which has been used for the simulation of the rigid zone effect of the box culvert is entity unit detail analysis.(3) By analyzing the variation law of the deformation and distribution of stress of the box culvert structure, find out the scope of the rigid zone of the corner point, and determine the criteria for the determination of the scope of the rigid zone.(4) By changing the thickness of roof and side wall width, height, diameter and haunch layout parameters, explore the influence and the variation laws of the regid zone effect in the “L”shape corner of the single span box culvert.(5) Change the thickness of roof, wall width, hole span layout, high bypass and haunch layout parameters of symmetrical and asymmetric double box culvert to analysis the influence and the variation laws of rigid zone effect in the T-joint area.(6) With the aim of optimization of rigid zone effect,this paper optimize the design of the single span box culvert, symmetric and asymmetric double-span box culvert. Obtained the reasonable basis for determining the dimensions of the components in the structure design.(7) Compare the simulation results of the rigid zone effect and regardless of the rigid zone effect of the single span box culvert, symmetric and asymmetric double-span box culvert model. The deformation value and the internal force value of the model which considering the rigid domain effect is smaller. Appropriate considering the influence of field effect in the design can reduce the reinforcement amount and the project cost reasonably.
