Load flow calculation is very important in electric power system analysis and calculation, which is basis for security analysis and calculation of power system. It can improve accuracy and rapidity of power system automation operation and real-time analysis systematically. The information of changing of distribution network load flow is absolutely necessary. Therefore, distribution network load flow calculation is the main trend. However, there are many differences between distribution systems and transportation systems, such as long lines and many branch lines, small diameter, few PV nodes in networks, and so on. So it is not applicable to apply the traditional analysis methods directly to distribution networks. According to the leading position of distribution networks load flow on operation and management of distribution systems, the subject of research has important theoretical significance and practical value. In this paper, in the basis of various power flow calculation methods, considering the accuracy, convergence, and stability, according to the structural characteristics of distribution networks, a method combined Z-bus and forward and backward substitution method is proposed. Matlab is used to accomplish the load flow program of distribution networks. Selected two 10 kV distribution networks systems to calculate load flow by Z-bus and proposed method respectively, and compare the results. The results show that this algorithm has superiority. On the basis of the proposed calculation method in analysis of the method application in network reconfiguration in distribution network.
