In the overhead transmission line system, the optical fiber composite overhead ground wire(OPGW) is more and more popular. When asymmetric short-circuit happens on the transmission line, the distribution of the current on OPGW has a significant influence on the power system. When designing and selecting the OPGWs, the exact value of the current flowing on the OPGW with the single-phase to ground fault should also be taken into consideration. Short-circuit occurring at the power tower and between the power towers are individually discussed in this paper. What's more, we apply the mesh current method to analyze the quantified calculation of the current flowing on the OPGW lines with the asymmetric short-circuit. At the same time,we draw the conclusion that the current flowing on the OPGW is greater when short-circuit occurring at the power tower than between the power towers. At last, the conclusion is been verified in a actual project example.
