Since the century, as the technology developing, a variety of electronic devices come into people’s daily lives and generate close contact with people. And the power management technology has become their hearts, it provides energy for these electronic devices and gets more attention from the scientists and engineers. So we have more and more demands for the power management technology. The research of this thesis is from the project of CAD Lab in Xi Dian University named Design of High Efficiency Synchronous Buck DC-DC Converter XD1338 with The Peak Current Mode.At first, this thesis make a brief overview and summary for the power management technology. And then describing several kinds of converters and analyzing its working principle, especially Buck DC-DC converter. Then analysing the system architecture and electrical characteristic index of XD1338. We design the chip by the method of top-down, and make analysis and simulation for working principle of the key modules. At last, the whole chip is simulated in functional properties, and the result is in line with our expectations.XD1338 uses peak current mode and PWM modulation. The efficiency is improving effectively. In addition, soft start circuit avoids the inrush current when startup, makes the output voltage rising from zero to regulation smoothly. Meanwhile, it is intergrated with the modules of OTP, OVP and UVP, these modules can protect the chip and extend the life of the chip.The design of high efficiency synchronous Buck DC-DC converter XD1338 uses the process of 0.5μm CMOS, and simulated in the Hspice of Cadence. The simulation result is in line with our expectations.
