Study On Urban Morphology Of Kunshan City Based On Fractal Theory

As the typical county-level city in the south of jiangsu, Kunshan is a type of urban morphology that is relatively distinctive and worthy to further study. It is a new method to study the urban morphology based on the fractal theory, which is constantly being explored. Introduction of urban fractal method in the study of urban form is conducive to the rationalization of urban planning analysis, quantitative development,and also make the urban planning and construction scientific.This paper tries to systematic research from multiple disciplines. Through the study on urban morphology fractal of Kunshan City, it discusses the evolution and characteristics, in order to provide reference for Kunshan City planning and construction strategies. Firstly, this paper combs the connotation of urban morphology,and analyzes on the factors of urban morphology and their inner link in space-time. It also analyses the mechanism of the city from the combination of horizontal and vertical direction. Secondly, based on fractal theory, this article discusses the meaning of fractal dimension on the urban morphology and impact, and the key combed the feasibility of fractal theory in the study of urban form and analytical thinking, and has chosen to Kunshan city form the fractal characteristics of fractal measurement method.Thirdly, on the basis of analysing present development situation of Kunshan city and the morphological evolution stage, it constructs fractal model of Kunshan urban morphology, and calculates the fractal dimension of Kunshan city; And the fractal dimension is calculated results and the Kunshan urban morphology evolution process,the combination of historical development comprehensive analysis on the fractal characteristics of the Kunshan city land layout form. Finally, according to the laws of the Kunshan urban morphology evolution and fractal characteristics, the paper puts forward countermeasures and Suggestions of land planning and layout for Kunshan city in urban construction and development.This study shows that the urban morphology of Kunshan is revealing a trend like this: construction land has being in order gradually, functional partition is clearer, and the internal link is close and organic. However, restricted by the land resources,Kunshan must promote the function of the construction land. It also shows that theevolution of urban morphology is correlated with the change of the fractal. Therefore,application of fractal theory to study urban morphology will provide the scientific basis for urban planning and development.
