Study On The Transformation Of Old Industrial Building Based On Cinematic Architecture

With the post-industrial era, a large number of old industrial buildings in China are facing an urgent need of renovation. The old industrial buildings generate in order to adapt to industrial activities and its existence is a functional-oriented, rational and non-human scale. And the detriment and impact of traditional industrial production on people’s living environment also lead to people’s misunderstanding and rejection of old industrial buildings. With the development of experience economy around the world, people begin to focus on the research of psychological emotional experience of service objects and the architecture design is no exception. The film, as the visual and auditory experience of people, gives us the immersive sense of intimacy.Therefore, in this paper, taking the old industrial buildings of cultural significance and historical connotation as the research object, the cinematic architecture theory is introduced into the design of the renovation of old industrial buildings. Through the study of the impact of the renovation of old industrial buildings on people’s space cognitive level, deeper connotation of the renovation of old industrial buildings is tried to be discussed.The paper also introduces the architectural phenomenology, Gestalt psychology, architecture context inheritance and other related theories. Through the analysis of typical movies as well as the comparison of classic films, the reflection and application of art film techniques in old industrial building renovation design are discussed, thus the specific organizational mode and design method are collated and deduced to propose the new methods and possibilities for China’s old industrial building renovation.This paper is divided into six chapters.Chapter 1 this part is the theoretical research. Through the introduction of research background, research significance, research method and technical route and the interpretation and definition of research objective, the cinematic architecture perspective in old building renovation is introduced.Chapter 2 starting from the combined history of the film and architecture, through analyzing the commonality of the film and architecture in the art and the similar space-time structure between the film and architecture, the cinematic architecture’s influence and significance that may arise in old industrial building renovation are proposed.Chapter 3 on the basis of the theoretical research in the previous two chapters, through the field research and data aggregation of domestic and foreign typical cases, the reflection of the cinematic architecture in old industrial building renovation design is analyzed in order to provide a realistic basis for the later analysis and collation.Chapter 4 on the basis of the analysis and collation of the cases, the narrative methods in old industrial building renovation are discussed from time organizational structure, space organizational structure and the expression mode of the old and new order three aspects.Chapter 5 based on the existing narrative materials, the editing approaches of materials are discussed.Chapter 6 starting from macro, meso and micro three levels, the specific design techniques of old industrial building renovation based on the cinematic architecture are summarized and classified, and the different space experience brought by the different expression of each design technique is discussed.
