At present, energy consumption growing rapidly while conventional fossil energy is limited, the resulting energy crisis has become a big obstacle in the development of the world. To deal with the energy crisis, measures such as energy-saving, improving energy efficiency, increasing the percentage of renewable energy resources in energy markets have been proposed by many countries. At present Zero Energy Building is being researched by many countries, and have achieved a lot of results in areas such as policy, architecture design, architecture technology and renewable energy sources. However, the research on Zero Energy Building is just started in China, the study results are short and have many problems. The research on development potential and scale of Zero Energy Building will advance theory development, and provide a reference and basal parameter for designing, and will benefit the construction of individual Zero Energy Building or even the Zero Energy Development construction.Basing on the concept of Zero Energy Building, this article presents the design principle of Zero Energy Urban Housing, and presents suggestions from the point of view of construction planning and individual building design basing on the principle. With the research result on renewable energy distribution and application status of Tianjin, to put forward proper suggestions about the renewable energy technology of Zero Energy Urban Housing.Then choosing the baseline model of Urban Housing of Tianjin through the research of 5 residential districts in Tianjin, to put forward specific standards, strategy of energy-saving and technical advice of renewable energy using.Making the final analogue calculation of energy consumption and energy production of urban housing in Tianjin which is optimized by Design Builder( dynamic energyconsumption simulation software) and PVsyst( photovoltaic system simulation software) can get the result that there is huge potential for Zero Energy Urban Housing in Tianjin: Zero energy can be completely achieved in 6-story and below residential, basically realized in 7~8-story residential, 70~80% realized in 9~3-story residential, there are difficulties to realize zero energy in high rise building but realize low energy consumption is possible. Furthermore, if the residential is within the scope, Zero Energy Building is more likely to be realized.
