The Noise of transformer is a key parameter to measure the design and produce levels of manufacturers. This article describes the actuality of the noise caused by the distribution transformers. Fully integrating domestic and foreign literature, effective noise suppression measures were studied, and the selection and installment principles of low-noise distribution transformers were summed up, through the noise measurements. The study includes the effective suppression measures of the distribution transformers noise, common factors that affect the results of transformer noise measurement, verification of the experience in the noise-related, etc. Through A large number of noise measuring test, the following major conclusions can be drawn: Oil-immersed self-cooling transformers have a significant advantage considering the noise factor. The most fundamental and effective way to reduce transformer noise is to take effective measures to reduce the magnetostriction rate of silicon steel sheet. Ask the transformer manufacturers for the sound level test results, which can help to clear the noise level of the transformer to be installed. For the absence of noise-related data, if other terms are consistent, the transformer which has less no-load loss usually has a lower noise level. To install the transformer, it is important that the tilt must be no more than 20 mm. Considering kinds of suppression measures, the most effective suppression measure is to improve the quality of the transformer itself.
