Experimental Study On Vertical Bearing Capacity Of Straw Bale Wall

With the development of economy and people’s increasing awareness of ecological energy saving and environmental protection,countries around the world have begun to study the crop straw as a new material to use in the ecological building.Straw bale buildings appeared earlier in rural housing in western countries,this straw bale building is mainly composed of vertical loadbearing elements of wood,straw bales as retaining structure.This kind of structure has the advantages of light weight,good seismic performance and insulation properties.It’s the traditional green,energy-efficient buildings.In recent years,some rural areas in north of China have begun to build the straw bale housing,but the load bearing member still use clay brick,the straw bales are only as a filler material.Development and application of straw bale in the construction will solve the problem of resources and energy shortage,while promoting harmonious sustainable development of human society and the ecological environment.In this paper,based on the reference of a large number of domestic and foreign literature,for the rural straw bale housing,the straw bale wall test and ANSYS finite element simulation analysis have studied.The main work:(1)Had a vertical capacity test for the bearing wall between the windows in the single rural straw bale housing,introduced the process of straw bale wall masonry,researched on the mechanical characteristics,deformation characteristics,yield bearing capacity and failure modes under vertical loads.The experimental results shows that the straw bale wall meet the requirements of vertical bearing capacity in rural straw bale single residential.(2)Simulated and analyzed the three kinds of straw bale wall model by using the finite element analysis software ANSYS13.0,the model of steel mesh cement mortar plastering straw bale wall W-1,the model of wooden keel cement mortar plastering straw bale wall W-2 and the model of cement mortar model of straw bale wall W-3.The load displacement curve from the finite element analysis were compared with the test results,proved the correctness of the simulation method,and got the effects of different construction measures of straw bale wall.(3)Introduced the structure type of ecology,energy saving straw bale house in countryside.According to environment and the characteristics of the construction,put forward corresponding design mothods and construction measures for rural straw bale houses.
