With the improvement of life quality, the phenomenon of uneven energy distribution and energy wasting, which caused by excessive pursuit of architectural appearance and luxury, emerges in an endless stream, resulting in the malignant growth of building energy consumption in china. As a special space structure, while using large area glass material to bring out an open field of vision and visual comfort for building indoor environment, the atrium has a great influence on building energy consumption and indoor environment comfort. Architectural shading is one of passive energy-saving technology which is simple and effective. Appropriate shading measures can not only create a nice architectural appearance, but also have an important significance to reduce building energy consumption and improve the indoor environment comfort. The traditional shading methods have already matured, and the advantages of simple practical and economical make it easy to occupy most of the shade market. But for the large space shading, without reasonable design, it will not be able to obtain good effects even if the increase in investment. The article uses an actual large space atrium building as the research object. The first step is to analysis the item energy consumption and thermal environment conditions of the building. Secondly, energy consumption simulation is made by IES to discuss the impact of internal shading curtain on energy consumption of the atrium building. Thirdly, by conducting the shading experiment, the research takes a comparison of measured data to analysis the influence of shading curtain onto the building energy consumption and thermal environment in the actual engineering conditions. And then, the research put forward corresponding ventilation plans and strategies to improve the common problems of the internal shading curtain. Results show that, for large space atrium buildings, the installation of sunshade curtain in the lighting top in summer can reduce the air conditioning energy consumption by 9.34% as well as the total building energy consumption by 8.21%. It is seen that the internal shading curtain in the lighting roof has a good effect on the energy consumption of the air conditioning device and even the whole atrium building. In addition, the setting of the internal shading curtain in the lighting roof has a certain influence on the thermal environment of the atrium. According to the results measured, it can reduce the maximum vertical temperature difference of the atrium by 2.9 degrees centigrade. At the same time, the phenomenon of thermal radiation aggregation emerges between the roof and the shading material when the internal shading curtain is settled in the lighting roof, which will lead to significantly increasing of the roof temperature. Effective roof ventilation can discharge the air of high temperature to outside, which will reduce the roof radiant heat as well. The simulation results show that, within the internal shading curtain in the lighting roof, natural ventilation can reduce the air temperature on the top by 2 ~ 2.5 degrees centigrade, while the mechanical exhaust can reduce it by 4.25~6.56 degrees centigrade. At the same time, the temperature of rest area around the atrium also decreases by 0.87~1.32 degrees centigrade with mechanical exhaust. It can be seen that mechanical exhaust is more effective than the natural ventilation on improving the thermal environment of atrium when internal shading curtain is installed. In order to strengthen the practicability and value engineering of the internal shading with roof mechanical exhaust, this study put forward a automatic control strategy for the roof mechanical exhaust which can adjust the roof exhaust fan according to roof air temperature that is in real-time monitoring. By using the automatic control system, it can be easy to avoid the waste of power resources as well as to guarantee the comfort level of atrium thermal environment.
