In recent years, there is a phenomenon in green building design that an increasing number of energy-saving technologies and products have been attached to buildings without rational design, which is more obviously in the field of existing building retrofits. This paper studied the green retrofits of existing office buildings and explored passive retrofitting strategies which should be proposed by architects. By means of combining strategies and specific cases, the research explained how to select strategies, how to apply technologies and how to integrate design and architectural image. According to a specific retrofit, integrated multi-objective strategies are adopted on the base of energy performance of buildings to achieve functional, economic, aesthetic goals, which will avoid energy waste by using unreasonably green technologies and achieve a reasonable innovation in architectural image. This paper consists of three parts. The first part includes the first two chapters, which analysed the situation of the green retrofits of existing office buildings, objectives and factors of retrofits. The second part contains the third and fourth chapters. Firstly, the study selected seven cases and researched how the strategies are applied. Secondly, the study explored a relatively complete system of retrofitting strategies and proposed a design process and method based on passive strategies among green retrofit of existing office buildings. The third part includes the fifth and sixth chapters, which discussed how to use these strategies and design methods to guide practice in detail. The research put forward a system of green retrofitting strategies for different building types in different climatic zones and a design process by analysis through domestic and foreign cases. This method was applied to the green retrofit of the 15 th teaching building of Tianjin University. By combining with quantitative analysis and using a series of simulation softwares, such as Design Builder, Ecotect, Phoenics, to simulate energy performance and physical environment of the building. The research aimed to provide a systematically theoretical basis and practical reference for the future green retrofit, calling on architects to play a vital role and pay more attention to passive design strategies in green building design, leading Chinese architectures towards a more healthy and effective direction. |
