With the analysis and research of building earthquake disaster influencing factors,bridge seismic theory has developed rapidly in recent years. For Japan which withstands many earthquakes,accumulating experice and revising and improving seismic design theory of buildings are very important ways to protect people's lives and property.The existing buildings are designed with the original design specifications,with the revising of specification,whether the existing building can meet current specification's seismic requirements has been an important research topic now.At present, although the seismic performance of bridges have been analyzed for many times, but the bridges with special uses were less studied. This paper analyzed the seismic performance of a bridge used for the transport of water(water pipe bridge). Water pipe bridge are very different from the traditional bridge in the aspects of physical properties, load condition and earthquake effect. Firstly, the member model of the water pipe bridge was built, and then the linear and nonlinear constitutive relations of each beam element were set by the difference of material and location. Secondly, the hydrodynamic pressure was converted into additional density and apply to the correspondent elements,due to the effect of water,the vibration of the participation quality of the water pipe bridge's axial and straight direction is different, so conduct modal analysis of the axial and straight direction of this bridge. After this the analysis mode and frequency and the Rayleigh damping by modal analysis of the model were determined, then the model was analyzed by time history analysis method with the focus of displacement of bridge deck and the internal force of bridge pier. At last, according to the results of time history analysis, the safety performance of piers of the existing water pipe bridge was checked. In this paper the research results provide a theoretical reference for the future design and construction of such bridges.
