In recent years, with rapid development of civil aviation in China, the contradiction between the sharp increase of flights and the low air traffic flow management level has become more obvious. The flight delay resulting from low level of air traffic flow management happened occasionally. Until now, our air traffic flow management methods are still only with single means, fixed scheme and useless data, as well as the lack of systematicness and automation. Besides, air traffic controllers used to deal with flow management work with their own experience, which also led to the inaccuracy of. flow management. So it is very important to study on air traffic flow management method and try to find a way to improve its accuracy, practicality and scientificity.The dissertation pursues a research on air traffic flow management method in D terminal area. Firstly, it analyzes the current method and find out its disadvantages which are the inaccurate data, the simple solution, the indiscriminate control scheme and so on. Then according to those analyses, the dissertation figures out the optimal solution of departure and landing flights per hour in different runway operation modes in D airport by using runway capacity curve. After that, the dissertation regards the departure and landing flights number as the target value, constructs mathematical model of D airport terminal area system with Queuing Theory and calculate the air traffic flow control scheme in D airport terminal area.Based on the real operation data of D airport terminal area and combining theory with practice, the dissertation trying to make the flow control scheme calculated in the final part can be applied in practical control work. By comparing the calculated air traffic flow control scheme with the original one, the calculated scheme in this dissertation produces a significant effect on increasing the efficiency of air traffic operation and raising the accuracy and applicability on the air traffic flow control scheme.
