Recently, the application of braces in the frame structure has significantly increased, but the optimization study on braced frame structure is paid less attention. Optimization of reinforced concrete frame structure with braces is only for a specific project. Providing this, this paper attempts to optimize the parameters of braces by using the genetic algorithm, and it has great practical value. The main works are as follows:(1)According to the optimization process of general genetic algorithm, this paper creates a braced frame structure optimization process.And the mathematical model of braced frame structure based on genetic algorithm is analysised and researched.(2)First, using parametric modeling program which is written by Python language can automaticly realize the creation and analysis of the model. Then, this paper presents a realization process of optimization program of braced frame structure based on genetic algorithm. And the integration between optimization software mode FRONTIER and ABAQUS creates the optimizational workflow of braced frame structure.(3)ABAQUS manual and genetic algorithm are employed to optimize three models,and both of the optimization results are basically the same. It shows that the application of genetic algorithm to optimize the structure of the braced frame is feasibility and reliable.(4)Genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the braced frame structure with different design objectives to research that whether the optimization of process is sensitive to optimization of parameters. The results indicate that the optimization process is highly sensitive to the height of beam section. When the aspectratio of the beam tends to three different values, the optimization returns to the three different structure conditions.Overall, the application of genetic algorithm to optimization design of braced frame structure by writing parametric modeling program and software integration to realize the optimization and analysis of the structure, is an efficient and reliable approach.
