Volumetric machine is a kind of machine which would take in and out working medium by changing enclosed cavity periodically, enabling the exchange of fluids and functional conversion using fluids as the medium. There are plenty types of volumetric machines and the engine studied in this paper is one of the most important ones.The machine studied in this paper is one of the designs of the machine design department, which has characteristics such as multi-cavity, multi-role, miniaturization and lightweight. This issue used three angles, multi-lumen, multi-role and small s/D value, to innovate the mechanical structure of the existing motorcycle engine. All the components required in the operation of the engine are also designed and manufactured in this issue, in order to get the target of the design of a light-weight, miniaturization and high-efficiency 4-stroke motorcycle engine.At the beginning of this paper, the background, origin, purpose and the significance of the subject are introduced, the working principle, the structural features and the innovation design elements are summarized, and then the differences between the new design dual-piston engine and the existing engine are also compared. In order to optimize the design process and shorten the development cycle, a 3D model of the engine are established and relevant simulations are done. Then the innovations in the overall design and structure are elaborate. After this, subsystems and entire engine are tested to run separately, and then the summaries are summarized. At the end, the summary of the entire work are summarized, and the development of the dual-piston engine in the future are prospected. The research way of my thesis: research and analysis techniques of the motorcycle engine; comparative and analysis the advantage of double-piston engines designed with the existing ones in theory; overall program design; simulation and optimization of local improvement; design prototype, experimental analysis and improve local optimization; optimization of two optimizing feedback and jointly promote the overall program, in order to continuously improve the design.This issue focused on the innovative design and the innovation of the engine transmission and valve timing mechanism, which are proved effective through both theory and experiment. We research about the light-weight, miniaturization and structural diversity of the engine and summarize the characteristics of the dual-piston engine, offering directions for future research in this area for our laboratory.
