In recent years, human lives and property are seriously threatened by frequent waterlogging in cities, which also exposed that the current urban drainage system cannot adapt to the rapid development of constructions as well. Under this background, the urban waterlogging control is imminent to the development of modern cities and the safety of citizens. However, solving the problem of urban waterlogging needs accurate detailed comprehensive simulation of the drainage system and the urban waterlogging risk assessment, which is aimed to make the optimization of engineering scheme for the urban drainage system planning, design, management, decision-making, and provide strong technical support, etc.In this paper, on the basis of preliminary analyzing the causes of urban waterlogging disaster, the writer adopts DHI MIKE FLOOD business model software developed by Danish company, and the Qingshan Chemical Zone Beihu system in Wuhan was taken as an example application of the urban drainage system model to carry out the urban waterlogging risk assessment. In the condition of actual rainfall(July 7, 2013), both coupling models of a one-dimensional urban drainage pipe network system model(MIKE(URBAN) and two-dimensional city surface flowing model(MIKE 21) were established to assess the present situation of Beihu drainage waterlogging to compare to the actual water points, demonstrating the scientificity and accuracy of the model. When the rainfall was designed, the DHI MIKE FLOOD coupling model was recreated and run to deeply assess the status quo of the drainage drainage ability, which showed that the Beihu system can effectively cope with 5 years rainfall return period, and the 46.4% status quo of the drainage pipe fail to meet the basic requirement of the 1 year return period. On the basis of these, the reasons which causes the waterlogging in Beihu system was analyzed and a planning scheme of waterlogging solution was draw up as well.Based on the in-depth study of the status quo of the drainage system, the DHI MIKE FLOOD model software was adopted as the technology base to make the optimization analysis of the two solutions, one is centralized expansion of the Beihu pumping station and the other is the expansion of the original Beihu pumping station with new construction of Beihu brake pump station. The results reveals that the solution of expansion of the original Beihu pumping station with the new construction of Beihu brake pump station conforms to the actual situation, which can effectively solve the problems of the urban waterlogging.
